Pastor Giles & Silvia Stevens
Giles is British born and has work extensively in Asia, Europe, and South America.
As the son of a British army officer he was raised in Hong Kong, Russia and Germany and various UK locations. As a business man with Jardine Mathesons he lived in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
In 1995 he set up the missionary organisation VivaCITY (formerly Faith-in-Action) and worked as an itinerant evangelist in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the UK and Europe and Brazil.
In 2005 he relocated to Brazil where he and his wife worked as network pastors for a large cell based church. In 2009 they returned to the UK with a vision to raise up a new generation of dynamic leaders through a network of cell churches.
Silvia comes from the state of Goias in Brazil. She was raised on a small ranch without electricity and yet as a small girl had a vision of the Union Jack and caught a heavenly vision to bring revival to the UK.
She trained in bible schools in Goiania, Sao Paulo and then latterly at IBIOL in London.
She met Pr. Giles at a Fire Conference with Pr. Reinhard Bonnke. They have been married for 10 years and have 4 children Titus, Daniel, Pedro, and Jemimah.
The Vine Church Swindon
The Vine Church (Swindon) started in January 2011 with a small group of 8 believers meeting in the home of Giles & Silvia Stevens.
In February a monthly service started and then in April this became a weekly afternoon service held at a local hotel.
By the end of the year the church had grown from one cell group to seven cell groups and from 8 people to 72 people (including 15 in London).
Now a few years after inception we are 16 cell groups and 144 members. Our Sunday services have relocated to the Commonweal Sixth in the heart of the Old Town of Swindon.
Cell groups meet in member’s homes during weeknights and the Sunday service takes place at 10.00am. The services themselves are characterized by passionate worship and rich teaching and are becoming known to be a life-changing experience for participants. Children also have their own program.
In addition, the church holds regular Weekend Encounter Camps and training tracks such as The Spiritual Maturity Course.
In London we have a weekly cell group that meets in at St. Mary’s College, Twickenham.
The Story of the Vine International
The Vine started in 1999 with a gathering of 60 hungry believers in the Brazilian city of Goiania. Since then the church, known for its cell group multiplication vision, has grown to a network of over 800 churches with the founding church having over 25,000 adult believers led by founder pastor Aluizio da Silvia.
